About Phillip
Phillip first started his valuation career in 1972 in the Christchurch Valuation Department. Moving to Hamilton in 1981 Phillip commenced in private practice. This lead on to the establishment of Curnow Tizard in late 1987, coinciding with the worldwide stock market crash. Phillip has experienced a number of property cycles through out his career . He is well versed on the impact of these events. Curnow Commercial was established in 2022.
Phillip specialises in both commercial and industrial insurance estimates as specified within the Insurance Services page. Areas of expertise for the insurance estimates include Hamilton and around the greater Waikato, covering Huntly, Raglan, Te Awamutu, Cambridge, Morrinsville and Matamata in the main.
Furthermore, Phillip was a long-standing member of the Valuers Registration Board up until his retirement from the board in 2024. He was also a founding trustee of the Valuers Education and Integrity Foundation. Both of which are at the forefront of a valuers introduction to the educational and professional requirements of being a registered valuer under the Valuers Act 1948. In 2016 he was the recipient of the John M Harcourt Memorial Award for Services to the Valuation Profession.
